  • Rebar Estimation

    This is the process of quantifying the reinforcement in a concrete structure, where we categorise the steel by type, bar size and bend category; element wise and segment wise. We also provide mesh and accessories details, as well as concrete quantities needed for a job; when it is included in the scope.

    At Rebar D&D, our adept estimators are equipped with advanced tools and software like ASA, RebarCAD/CADSRC, Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff (OST) to produce accurate and comprehensive rebar estimates in various formats.   • Rebar Detailing

    Here we prepare reinforcement placing/shop drawings derived from the design drawings which are then used by the contractor to place the bars at the project site. These shop drawings enable us to generate detailed instructions on the number, size, shape and location of the rebar to be placed in the form work, prior to concreting. The software also helps us produce Bar Bending Schedules in varied customised formats, which are then input into automated machines in fabrication shops.

    At Rebar D&D, we use ASA aor RebarCAD/CADSRC to produce shop drawings as per the structural codes and construction practices of the region. We adhere to a three tier system to whet the quality and flow of information in both directions before the final drawings are delivered to the client.

  • 3D Modeling and Detailing

    Modeling and Detailing Rebar in 3D introduces a new dimension of productivity and understanding. Instead of detailing on 2D platforms and providing 2D drawings, we dive into the third dimension where we use the Tekla Rebar Detailing Program to model the concrete as well as detail the Rebar in 3D thus ensuring a 3D structure that can be exported into an IFC file and further transferred to various other platforms which then enables the other trades to be incorporated into the model. This collaboration with other trades helps us use the model along with other materials allowing for clash detection where we view the Rebar alongside the Piping, PT cable, Structural Steel, HVAC, etc.

    While the 3D model helps in construction, the Rebar information from the model is transferred back to a 2D platform thus providing 2D shop drawings which is used for fabrication and placement.

    Hybrid Projects

    In our past experiences while detailing in 3D, we have come to realize that errors are far fewer as against detailing Rebar in 2D when we work on projects that have complex structures especially when it is difficult to depict complicated parts of a structure on a 2D platform. In these types of projects we detail the standard elements in 2D and the complicated structures are done in 3D resulting in a hybrid model of detailing which has been very successful with one of the examples being the Seattle Aquarium Ocean Pavilion (SAOP), Seattle WA.

  • Project Management

    There are three stages in this process.

    Field preparation

    The project managers at Rebar D&D work with the execution team to lay the ground work accordingly. This includes incorporating other aspects of construction such as MEP, highline, rocks on ground,drainage lines etc.that could be taken from the contract/civil drawings.

    Scheduling of drawings and creation of material list

    Team Rebar D&D understands the importance of scheduling the Shop Drawings for approval from the engineers and more significantly, scheduling the Field Use drawings along with the Bar List for Fabrication. Our project managers ensure stringently that adequate lead time is maintained for approvals as well as the duration needed for fabrication and material delivery logistics.

    Execution of work at site

    When a client makes a specific request, the team at Rebar D&D coordinates directly with the contractor – it is this instant connect and holistic method that has proven to be a superior time saving support to our clients. Our in-depth detail in constructability combined with an inclusive approach reflects in the fact that even after submitting very precise drawings; we will adequately support the final implementer on site to achieve complete efficiency. Should the placer at the site require further clarifications or information, we respond immediately to our clients or directly to the General Contractors/Concrete Contractors on their request. We can also discuss viable construction options during the detailing process and generate needed RFI’s and/or substitution requests prior to the drawings being submitted for approval.

    By adhering to the specific standards and the needs of the client, we engineer shop drawings based on their priorities that include: reducing material wastage, saving man hours of rebar placement, fabrication man hours, ordering special grades of steel and any other logistical issues they may be faced with when moving the rebar to the project site.

  • PT Detailing

    Rebar Design and Detail through its wholly owned subsidiary RD&D Engineering, LLC, provides superior Post Tension Cable Detailing services to Fabricators and Contractors across the US.

    Providing both Rebar as well as PT Detailing allows us to become a one-point contact for the project avoiding multiple levels of communication between the Rebar Detailers and PT Engineers.

    We are experienced in providing PT Cable detailing for all types of structures and our primary goal is to deliver uncompromising quality PT shop drawings to our customers.

    PT Shop Drawings along with Friction Loss calculations per Industry Standard

    For the approval process, we provide the shop drawings along with Friction Loss calculations as per the industry standards. We share the quantities for the PT accessories as well as PT Backup bars, in the approval shop drawings based on the needs of our clients. The bar quantities are either provided as PDF List or in the aSa Bar list format.

    Tendon Cut Length Sheet

    This provides you the information about the Length of the Tendons required for each drawing along with the quantity of Anchors and Wedges required.


    As we do in our Rebar Detailing Services, we have a three tier quality checking system where the shop drawings are checked multiple times as well as design calculations are verified thus reducing the possibility of errors.

  • Dimensional/General Arrangement Drawings

    Along with providing accurate Rebar shop drawings; our core competence, we use this stage as an advantage to produce Slab Edge or General Arrangement drawings to general/concrete contractors.

    These drawings are especially useful as they highlight the concrete edges, pour joints, tower crane openings, MEP blocks, depressions, steps, walls, columns, stair details etc. Once the Structural/Architects have included revisions approved by them, the drawings may then be used by fabricators, erectors and installers.
